85 Years Young

Today, my Nana celebrates her 85th Birthday!! It's a couple of weeks until her party so I haven't yet chosen a gift for her (what do you get for a lady who seemingly has everything she could realistically want and a large family who will spoil her rotten?).

Anyway, although the present will wait, the card wouldn't, so after much debating (it isn't as easy as you might think to find a stamp suitable for an 85 year old who is probably more active than I am!), I finally decided on a gorgeous Mermaid digi stamp. I dug out suitable papers and embellishments, sat back and waited for the stamp to arrive! By 7pm it still hadn't arrived so I had a rethink and decided to use the gorgeous gift image from the super talented Krista Smith at Saturated Canary, available here. I'm soooooo glad I had to redesign, I love this image and I think my Nana will too!

Here is what I came up with -

I used my favoured Promarker colours for her skin - Ivory, Blush and Satin, with a teeny hint of Dusky Pink in places. Her hair was coloured with Terracotta, Spice and Light Sienna. I don't have Promarkers in Teal shades (yet), luckily I do still keep 3 Whispers Strokes pens in my box so using them I was able to colour her dress and bow (with a bit of help from a Black Promarker). I added some sparkle to her beautiful dress with my trusty Clear Sakura Stardust pen and some bling in the form of 4mm Ivory Pearl Flatbacks. I also added 3mm Pink Pearl flatbacks in her hair.

I cut around the finished image and mounted it on a 4.5" doily, which I had dusted with chalk. I added a small cut off of teal Organza material and a strip of beautiful ribbon. I added more 4mm Ivory pearl flatbacks to the card and the ribbon.

I added the number 85 cut with my trusty Big Shot a few weeks ago using some beautiful Iridescent paper -

And a Butterfly, also cut a short time ago on my big shot. This was plain white card which I first embossed with my Swiss Dots embossing folder before cutting. I coloured the butterfly with chalk and added more bling -

I'm really pleased with the finished result and in having to change my design, it has also enabled me to enter the current challenge on the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog found here which is a bonus.

Hope you like my card. Thank you for stopping by.
